Terms & Conditions – Tooting Newsie Events Page
1. Who these terms apply to
These terms apply to anyone submitting an event listing to the Tooting Newsie Events page ("the Events page"), whether as a one-off listing or under a monthly subscription. By submitting a listing, you agree to these terms.
2. What you're paying for
The Events page offers four listing types:
- Standard listing – your event is listed on the Events page until the event date.
- Featured listing* – your event is highlighted with top placement and a larger photo card.
- Standard subscription – unlimited standard listings for the duration of your subscription, billed monthly.
- Featured subscription* – unlimited featured listings for the duration of your subscription, billed monthly.
*Events under a Featured listing or Featured subscription are shown ahead of Standard listings on their event date, regardless of the specific time of day. Within each of those groups, events are still ordered chronologically by date and start time. If two events share the exact same date and time, their order is decided randomly each time the page loads, so neither one is permanently shown above the other.
Current prices are shown on the Events page submission form at the time of listing. We may change prices at any time; the price shown at the point you submit and pay is the price that applies to that listing.
3. What we need from you
Every listing must include: event name, date, start and end time, venue, a short description, a contact email, and a photo or flyer – this is required for every listing, regardless of type. We may reject or request changes to a listing that doesn't meet this, or any other requirement in these terms.
You confirm that:
- the information you submit is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
- you have the right to use any photo or flyer you upload, and you grant Tooting Newsie a licence to display it on the Events page and in related social media promotion for as long as the listing is live;
- your event is genuine, lawful, and you have any permissions or licences it requires (e.g. a venue licence, a personal licence for alcohol sales, or similar).
4. Our editorial discretion
Tooting Newsie may decline, edit, or remove any listing at our discretion – for example if it's inaccurate, misleading, unlawful, offensive, or doesn't fit the spirit of a hyperlocal community events page. Where reasonably possible we'll tell you why and give you a chance to fix it, but we're not obliged to publish any specific listing.
5. Community & charity listings
We may offer discounted or free listings to genuine community groups, schools and charities via a code system. We reserve the right to verify eligibility and to withdraw a code or listing if it was used outside its intended purpose.
6. Payment & refunds
Payments are processed securely through our payment provider (Stripe); we do not see or store your full card details. One-off listing fees are non-refundable once the listing has been published, except where the event is cancelled through no fault of your own before it goes live, or where we remove the listing in error. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time via "Manage subscription" on the Events page once signed in, which takes you to our payment provider's own account portal – cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we don't offer partial-month refunds.
A subscription only keeps your listings live for as long as it is active. If you cancel, any listings you've submitted that are dated after the end of your paid-up period will be removed and will no longer appear on the Events page. In practice this means you can only display listings for the period you've actually paid for – for example, if you subscribe for one month but add listings spanning three months, only those falling within your paid month will remain once the subscription lapses; later-dated listings will be removed. Recurring listings will stop appearing beyond the end of your paid period.
Subscribers can list events up to three months in advance.
7. Liability
Tooting Newsie provides the Events page as a promotional listings service only. We are not a party to, and are not responsible for, the event itself – including its cancellation, postponement, safety, ticketing, or any dispute between you and an attendee. We aren't liable for losses arising from inaccurate information you've supplied, from technical issues with the page, or from delays in publishing or removing a listing, except where caused by our negligence.
8. How long listings stay up, and data deletion
Once an event's date and end time have passed, the listing – including the submitted photo/flyer, contact email and other details – is automatically deleted from our systems, after a grace period of 7 days. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your data.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time; the current version will always be available on the Events page. Continuing to use the Events page after an update means you accept the revised terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
